Edgar Zayago Lau

Edgar Zayago Lau is a visiting Postdoctoral Scholar based at CNS-UCSB for 2012-2013.
He holds a Master Degree in International Development Studies from Saint Mary´s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and a Ph.D in Development Studies from the Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas (UAZ), Mexico. He is a full professor in the Development Studies Academic Unit at UAZ, and serves as the technical secretary for the Latin American Network on Nanotechnology & Society (ReLANS/ www.relans.org); headquartered in Zacatecas, Mexico with one coordination office in Curitiba, Brazil.
In 2008, Dr. Zayago Lau was an invited research scholar by the Nanoforum European Union and Latin America (NanoforumEULA) at the Laboratory Mesa+, University of Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands.
Emerging technologies and society is his strongest research area within the area of science & technology and its role on development. He works in Interdisciplinary Research Group 2 with Rich Applebaum, and is currently looking at the political economy of nanotechnology development in Mexico. Mexico´s National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) funds his research at CNS-UCSB.
