Galen Stocking has been a CNS graduate fellow since 2011.  He is a PhD student in Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  His research interests include political communication, particularly as it relates to online communication and organization; citizenship; political discussion; the interaction of technology and society; and international organizations. He is currently designing his dissertation to include as many of those research areas as possible.

Galen works on IRG2, where he helps examine the interaction between public policy and nanotechnology innovation from a comparative perspective. Prior to coming to UCSB, Galen earned a BS in Computer Science and a MA in National Security Studies from California State University, San Bernardino.  He has also been active with Model United Nations programs at each university and at the national level and currently serves as the graduate advisor of the UCSB club.
