James Walsh

James was a CNS Graduate Fellow from 2009 to 2011, and recieved his Ph.D. in Sociology from UCSB in 2011. His dissertation compared the recent trajectory of immigration policy in the U.S., Canada and Australia to assess its connections to patterns of global economic and state restructuring. At CNS-UCSB he investigated the contributions of foreign-born scientists and engineers to innovation related to nano-science and nanotechnology. James received a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology at the University of Kansas.
