Gerald Barnett
Gerald Barnett is Director of the Research Technology Enterprise Initiative at the University of Washington. He has 18 years experience in university-based research enterprise activities, including policy, strategies, negotiation, new venture, and management related to intellectual property in research and transfer relationships. Previous to his present employment, at the University of Washington, Barnett created Software and Copyright Ventures (now Digital Ventures), a unit focused on the dissemination of software and other information assets, and designed one of the first certificate courses in Intellectual Property Management. Barnett helped to establish software management workshops for the Association of University Technology Managers. Presently, his project - the Research Technology Enterprise Initiative - develops programs in research acceleration, commons formation, and new forms of inquiry.
